After the equal result of 1-1 between "Paris Saint-Germain" and London's "Arsenal", the latter team's forward Olivier Giroud criticized the opponent's defender Marco Verratti.
Both players had already received their second yellow card during the added time of the second half and were sent off the field together.
This happened due to a scuffle, in which another PSG representative, Marquinhos, was actively involved.
"Having already received a yellow card, I didn't want to stir up trouble," Giroud said after the match.
"I was standing in Verratti's way, and then he fell down, I don't understand why. Marquinhos pushed me from behind, and then I can't imagine how Verratti fell again."
"It escalated the situation. It's sad, especially because I don't even know if the referee saw what happened."
"His behavior really surprised me."
Interestingly, Giroud received both cards while being on the field after a substitution.
