Former Swiss national team coach Ottmar Hitzfeld believes that the current Munich "Bayern" is the best in the club's history.
The 66-year-old strategist has also coached the Bavarian team in the past. Over seven years under the German's guidance, "Bayern" won five Bundesliga titles and once triumphed in the UEFA Champions League.
"Is the Bayern team the best in its history? I think so, because the team has never been as strong as it is now," Hitzfeld told the Bundesliga website. "The club has a fantastic squad."
The strategist also emphasized that "Bayern" faces little competition in the Bundesliga: "The only team that could threaten Josep Guardiola's team was 'Borussia', but now they are in a crisis."
After 17 matches in the German championship, "Bayern" holds the first place and has an 11-point advantage over the closest pursuers.
