Waiting is over: UEFA officially announced that the 2024 European Football Championship will take place in a country that knows this sport more than anyone else - Germany.
On Thursday in Nyon (Switzerland), a vote was held by UEFA committee members, and the right to host the biggest European football tournament was given to Germany.
In the battle for rights, the Germans defeated politically themselves another country - Turkey. Since the beginning of the election, Germany was considered the favorite, as the country's football infrastructure far surpasses that of Turkey.
For Germany, this will not be the first time hosting the European Championship - in 1988, the Old Continent's championship also took place in this country, where the Dutch triumphed.
Germany will not have any problems with the stadiums - it hosted the 2006 World Cup, so the stadium conditions are excellent. Before the 2024 European Championship, only cosmetic renovations may be needed.
