"Newcastle United" finally finished negotiations with London's "Tottenham" and acquired England national team defender Andros Townsend for 12 million pounds sterling.
On the official website, it is reported that a five-and-a-half-year contract was signed with the 24-year-old footballer. A. Townsend became the third purchase of Steve McClaren in this winter transfer window.
"I am glad to be here", - said the defender after arriving. - "Newcastle" is a fantastic club with amazing fans, a great stadium, and deep football traditions".
"After hearing about the opportunity to move to "Newcastle", I realized that this is exactly where I want to play. I am looking forward to stepping onto the field", - added the Englishman.
A. Townsend has been a part of the "Tottenham" club throughout his career. He officially became a player of the club in 2009, but during this time the footballer was loaned out to as many as nine clubs.
This season, the Englishman played only seven matches for the "Spurs" and a total of 93 matches throughout his career.
