Madrid's „Atletico“ presented their first newcomer this summer. Free agent Axel Witsel signed a one-year contract with the club. Before moving to the Spanish capital club, the Belgian was negotiating with the „Marseille“ club. A. Witsel became a free agent after his spell at Borussia Dortmund. His best seasons in Germany were the first ones, when the defensive midfielder arrived to play there after a stint in China. During his two seasons in the Bundesliga, the Belgian scored 8 goals and made 6 assists. Before that, in his career, the defensive midfielder played in Belgium, St. Petersburg's „Zenit“ and „Benfica“ teams.
