Official: Ancelotti appointed as PSG coach © EuroFootball.com

The new head coach Carlo Ancelotti was officially appointed on Friday afternoon. He replaced Antoine Kombouare, who stepped down from the post just a few hours earlier.

The Italian signed a two and a half year contract and will earn about 6-7 million euros per season.

Although the Parisian team is leading the French championship, the club owners from Qatar were disappointed by their exit from the Europa League tournament already after the group stage. In addition, they wanted a more well-known specialist in the coaching position.

This summer, the Qataris invested almost 90 million euros to acquire new footballers, not sparing over 40 million euros just for the young Argentine Javier Pastore. It is expected that with Ancelotti, PSG will win the national championship for the first time since 1994 and qualify for the Champions League, which they competed in seven seasons ago.

Ancelotti had been unemployed since May, when he was dismissed from the London club Chelsea. He has also coached Milan, with which he won the Champions League trophy twice.
