London's "Arsenal" announced on their official club website that they have acquired right-back Mathieu Debuchy from "Newcastle United."
According to the press, the agreement between the player and the "Gunners" was reached a few weeks ago, but it was only now that negotiations with the "Magpies" team were finally completed.
The 28-year-old French national team defender signed a long-term contract with the FA Cup winners. After the transfer, the Frenchman was excited about the new step and stated that "Arsenal" is one of the biggest clubs in the world.
"I am very proud to have joined one of the biggest clubs in the world," said M. Debuchy. "It will be an honor to wear the 'Arsenal' jersey."
The defender arrived at the "Newcastle" club in winter 2013. In less than two seasons, he played 46 matches and scored once. He will replace his compatriot Bacary Sagna, who has moved to "Man City," in the London team.
However, "Newcastle" did not look for a replacement for M. Debuchy for long, and it was officially confirmed that the new "Magpies" player is Dutch national team right-back Daryl Janmaat.
"Feyenoord" will receive 7.5 million euros for the 24-year-old footballer. In two seasons with this team, D. Janmaat played 74 matches and scored five goals.
