The search for a striker in the "Barcelona" club is over - the Catalans confirmed the acquisition of "Leganes" forward Martin Braithwaite.
"Barcelona" paid 18 million euros for the 28-year-old striker. The player himself signed a contract with the Spanish club until the summer of 2024.
"Leganes" was powerless in this situation, as "Barcelona" bought out the player's contract.
On Monday, the Catalans received confirmation from the Spanish football federation that due to Ousmane Dembele's long-term injury, they could add a new player. However, they had limited options - they could only choose players currently playing in Spain.
"Barcelona" received criticism for this deal, as the only loser in this situation is "Leganes" club.
The club is currently fighting for survival in the highest league, but after losing one of their leaders, they cannot bring in a new player to replace him, which "Barca" did in this case.
In the winter of 2019, the Dane arrived in Spain from England and has scored 8 goals in over 20 matches this season.
Prior to this, M. Braithwaite has played for teams such as "Bordeaux," "Middlesbrough," and "Toulouse."
