London club officially confirmed today that they have reached an agreement with the club regarding the transfer fee for Didier Drogba.

Negotiations took place between the Ivory Coast national team striker and both clubs, and finally they managed to agree on, reportedly, 35 million euros that the French club will receive for the player.

The 26-year-old Drogba scored 18 goals in 31 matches last season in the French championship, scored five times in the Champions League, and also scored four goals to help his team reach the final of the UEFA Cup tournament.

For his excellent performance, he was chosen as the best player in the French championship and attracted the interest of many European giants, including Chelsea.

Initially rejecting offers from Roman Abramovich, Marseille then accepted the proposals when coach Jose Mourinho declared his desire to have the striker, as Argentinian Hernan Crespo had been loaned to Milan. The millionaire eager for quick victories did not spare money and offered a higher price, which was acceptable to the French.

Today, Chelsea also announced the purchase of midfielder Tiago. The Portuguese player passed the medical examination and will negotiate contract terms along with Drogba tomorrow, on Tuesday.
