Official: "Chelsea" bought goalkeeper Kepa for a record sum

London's "Chelsea" club indicated on their official website that goalkeeper Kepa, who belonged to Bilbao's "Athletic" club, will now play within the ranks of the "Blues".

The "Chelsea" team announced this deal immediately after confirming that Thibaut Courtois is moving to Madrid's "Real". The young Basque will have the role of the main goalkeeper this season.

Kepa will become the most expensive goalkeeper of all time - "Chelsea" will pay his buyout clause of 80 million euros. The player himself signed a contract until 2025.

This summer, the record for the most expensive goalkeeper belonged to the Brazilian Alisson, whom "Liverpool" acquired for 70 million euros. "Chelsea" broke this record on the last day of the "Premier League" transfer window.

23-year-old Kepa has been playing in the main "Athletic" team since 2016.
