On Saturday morning, after announcing the news about Maurizio Sarri's arrival, London's Chelsea wasted no time and announced that along with the coach, Jorginho, who belonged to Napoli, would also be joining the team.
Jorginho has already undergone a medical examination and signed a five-year contract with the Blues. It is estimated that Chelsea paid 60 million euros for the Brazilian-born, but representing the Italian national team footballer.
"I am incredibly happy to be here. It's not so easy to become a part of such a big team, so I am thrilled with this opportunity. I am glad that I will have the chance to compete in such an intense league and a team that gives everything for victory," Jorginho said during his presentation.
Not long ago, Jorginho could have ended up at Manchester City. The Italian was most strongly linked with the team this summer, but the arrival of M. Sarri at Chelsea and the Citizens' unwillingness to pay more than 50 million euros changed the player's opinion.
Standing out for his excellent vision and ball control, the midfielder played for Napoli for the past four and a half years. In total, the 26-year-old player played 160 matches and scored six goals for the Italian vice-champions.
He became Chelsea's first new signing this summer.
