On July 1st, the transfer window opened and deals poured in. London's "Crystal Palace" officially announced that they have activated the release clause in Andros Townsend's contract.
The 24-year-old footballer, who in January of this year moved from London's "Tottenham" to "Newcastle United" for £12 million, had to find a new club as "The Magpies" were relegated from the Premier League, and ended up joining the most powerful football division team in the country.
"Crystal Palace" paid the £13 million release clause and signed a five-year contract with the player.
"I am very pleased. Before signing the contract, I had the opportunity to talk to the coach and the club staff. I am glad to be a part of this club," said A. Townsend.
The winger, in the second half of last season wearing "Newcastle" shirt, played 13 games and scored four goals.
For the 24-year-old footballer, "Crystal Palace" will be the 12th club in his career. Although his rights belonged to "Tottenham" until this winter, the Englishman was constantly loaned to various English teams.
Interestingly, at the same time, "Newcastle United" and "Crystal Palace" agreed on the transfer of 25-year-old Dwight Gayle to "The Eagles".
