The talented Argentinian national team forward Carlos Tevez has changed teams - Buenos Aires' "Boca Juniors" sold him to the Brazilian "Corinthians" club for 18 million dollars (about 13.5 million euros). The Argentine signed a two-year contract, which should earn him 4 million dollars.
This amount paid for the player is a record in Brazil, and "Corinthians" was able to do it after signing a partnership agreement with the London-based investor group MSI, which is believed to have rights to the football player.
The 20-year-old Tevez, last year voted the best in Latin America, was the top scorer in the Athens Olympic Games with 8 goals and helped his country's national team win gold medals. This performance drew the attention of European giants, but surprisingly he was acquired by another South American club.
According to "Boca Juniors" president Mauricio Macri, the deal is complex and the Argentinian club will not only receive those 18 million, but will also earn a possible player sale if compensation is received for various other things.
The "Boca" leader also acknowledged that he regrets parting ways with Tevez. The latter motivated his decision to move by personal problems - he didn't like the local media pressure and various rumors, and allegedly it will be easier for him to adapt to life in Brazil than in faraway European countries.
Meanwhile, "Corinthians" having a poor season, does not seem to be stopping in strengthening the team, and now they are targeting several well-known Brazilians. It is believed that they are interested in the "Sporting" player Tinga, Roger from "Benfica", Athirson from "Flamengo", and also trying to lure the coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo, who won the champion title last season with "Cruzeiro".
