"Liverpool" club continues to attract players from the "Southampton" club. The "Reds" squad was joined on Sunday evening by defender Dejan Lovren.
25-year-old Croatian, who Brendan Rodgers paid £20 million for, joined forward Rickie Lambert and Adam Lallana.
The footballer became the most expensive defender in the history of "Liverpool" and surpassed Mamadou Sakho in terms of price, for whom the Merseyside club paid £18 million. Most likely, the Croatian will play the majority of the season alongside him.
"This is a dream come true. I am happy and proud to be here and look forward to the start of the season. I know that the team has millions of fans. It's more than just a club.
"After a match at "Anfield" stadium last season, I told myself: "Maybe one day I'll be able to play here". Fans will see from the first minutes that I am a player ready to give 100% on the field", - said the Croatian after signing the contract.
D. Lovren started his career at Zagreb's "Dinamo" club, moved to Lyon in 2010, and last summer transferred to the "Southampton" team for £10 million.
Last season, the Croatian played as a center-back alongside Jose Fonte. This duo was one of the most reliable in the entire Premier League.
This summer, Lovren is the fifth newcomer to the "Liverpool" club. In addition to the "Southampton" trio, Emre Can and Lazar Markovic have joined the team.
