"Saint Petersburg's "Zenit" and Lisbon's "Benfica" announced on the official club websites that after the World Cup, defender Ezequiel Garay will arrive in Russia.

The 27-year-old Argentine currently assists his national team in the World Cup. He has been playing for "Benfica" since 2011, when he left Madrid's "Real" club.

It is believed that E.Garay cost the Russian club 15 million euros, although "Benfica" claims it was a sum of 6 million euros. After a great season, the defender was linked to several famous European clubs, but his career took a turn towards Russia.

"I want to thank everyone who supported me during three glorious years at the 'Benfica' club," said E.Garay. "I have had unforgettable moments in Lisbon and want to thank all the club staff and, of course, my teammates."

Last season, E.Garay scored eight goals in 49 matches for the Portuguese champions team."
