“Manchester United” executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward will leave his position on February 1 and will be replaced by Richard Arnold. “United” announced in April 2021 that 50-year-old Woodward will step down from his role at the end of the year, shortly after the club withdrew from the proposed European Super League. Woodward has held his current role in the team since 2012 and should be succeeded by 51-year-old Arnold, who has worked as the club's group managing director. He said: “It is a great honor for me to have the opportunity to serve this great club and its fans. I am determined to help the team in every possible way.” Joel Glazer, co-owner of the team, said: “I would like to thank Ed for his tireless work on behalf of Manchester United over the past nine years as executive vice-chairman.” “Now we look forward to Richard and his team starting a new phase of the club's evolution, with ambitious plans to invest in Old Trafford, strengthen our relationship with fans, and continue to pursue the ultimate goal of winning on the field.”
