"Manchester City" officially announced on Thursday after lunch that Brazilian defender Fernando, who belonged to the "Porto" club until now, will defend the honor of the English champions from next season.
It is believed that the 26-year-old footballer cost Manuel Pellegrini's team 15 million euros. With the "Porto" club, the Brazilian had extended his contract until 2019 back in the summer of this year, but he did not refuse the opportunity to move to England.
"I know there were a lot of rumors about the transfer back in January, so I am glad that the deal finally happened and I am now a 'Manchester City' player," - it is written on the website.
"I am looking forward to meeting my teammates and I want to help the club defend the title of English champions next season. 'City' fans can rest assured, as I will give my all for this club," - concluded the defender, who has not yet played for the Brazilian national team.
Fernando played for "Porto" team since 2007. During his time in Portugal, he won 12 titles.
