"Fiorentina" announced that they have dismissed coach Vincenzo Montella from his duties.
The 40-year-old strategist hesitated to sign a long-term contract with the "Viola" and the "Serie A" club decided to make changes.
The current coach's contract was supposed to end after the next season.
"With great regret, we announce that we failed to develop the necessary mutual trust, which is essential in any relationship, and we were forced to dismiss Montella," the club said in a statement.
The most likely candidate to take over the vacant position is called the "Basel" victories craftsman Paulo Sousa.
However, the Portuguese immediately told the press that he plans to continue working with the Swiss team next season.
Meanwhile, Montella, who last season helped the club reach the final of the Italian Cup and the semi-finals of the Europa League, may move his career to the "Napoli" or "Milan" club.
