Official: J. Heynckes extends a helping hand to the "Bayern" team

On Friday evening, "Bayern" Munich officially confirmed that retired Jupp Heynckes will take over as head coach until the end of the season.

The strategist will replace Carlo Ancelotti, who lost his job after a string of poor performances against "Paris Saint-Germain".

The 72-year-old specialist retired from football after the 2012/13 season. Back then, he led "Bayern" to unprecedented heights.

That year, Bayern became Bundesliga champions, won the DFB cup, and triumphed in the Champions League. J. Heynckes was named FIFA Coach of the Year in 2013.

This will be the fourth time the coach takes charge of the team. He first took over in 1987 and led Bayern until 1991. Then, in 2009, J. Heynckes managed the team for five matches, and last worked with the team from 2011-2013.
