The board officially confirmed that Felipe Melo has been loaned to a club in Istanbul for security.
The Turks will pay 1.5 million euros for the Brazilian's contract for a year. After the season, "Galatasaray" will have the option to buy out Melo's contract for a predetermined sum of 13 million euros.
The 28-year-old Melo recently stated that he has received an offer to earn significantly more than before, so he would like to leave this summer.
Last season, the footballer played 29 matches in the Italian championship and scored one goal.
