Official: L. Enrique became the coach of the Spanish national team

The Spanish football federation confirmed at a special press conference that the national team will now be led by former unemployed Luis Enrique in recent years.

The 48-year-old strategist last worked for Barcelona, where he won all major trophies. L. Enrique was linked to the London Chelsea team, but they still have Antonio Conte, and even after his departure, the coaching position would immediately go to Maurizio Sarri.

The Spanish national team was left without a coach right before the World Cup - the federation decided to dismiss Julen Lopetegui, when he signed with Real Madrid.

His place during the World Cup was taken by Fernando Hierro, who failed to achieve the highest goals and ended his work both as a coach and as a sports director.

The experienced coach will sign a two-year contract. His debut will take place in September - Spain will face England in the World Cup semifinals.

L. Enrique has played 62 matches for the Spanish national team and scored 12 goals.
