Official: L. Enrique returns to the Spanish national team

The president of the Spanish Football Federation, Luis Rubiales, confirmed during a press conference on Tuesday that Luis Enrique is returning to the position of national team coach.

The 49-year-old strategist resigned from his duties in June. He made this decision due to personal reasons - his young daughter was seriously ill.

In this position, the strategist was replaced by Robert Moreno, who had been his assistant for many years. He led the team since March when L. Enrique could no longer be with the team.

During that time, R. Moreno won seven out of nine matches with the team and led them to the European Championship. As L. Rubiales revealed, R. Moreno will not remain in charge of the national team because L. Enrique was always the leader of this project, so the possibility of his return to this position was always real.

It is added that R. Moreno will not remain in L. Enrique's coaching staff, although they worked together since 2011.

L. Enrique, who experienced a painful loss in his family, will start working with the national team again in March, when the first national team break will take place after the qualification stage.
