Bilbao "Athletic" announces that they have extended the contract with center-back Aymeric Laporte until 2020.
The new contract specifies a buyout clause of 65 million euros, which will increase by another five million after two seasons.
This news is particularly bad for English clubs and "Barcelona" who were hunting for the Frenchman. According to various reports, at least "Manchester United", "Manchester City", and London's "Arsenal" showed interest in him.
The 22-year-old footballer played 26 games this year in "La Liga", scoring three goals and providing one assist. This is a good result for a player in his position.
In the Spanish championship, Laporte also helped his team keep a clean sheet seven times.
