Official: legendary G.Buffon joined PSG squad

Paris Saint Germain announced that they reached an agreement with the legendary Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon.

The French champions managed to convince the 40-year-old player to hang up his gloves and signed a one-year contract with him.

Buffon, who became a free agent, also had contract offers from Liverpool, Atletico Madrid, and Manchester City, but the wealthy PSG outbid all competitors.

The legendary goalkeeper spent 17 years defending the honor of Turin's Juventus, with whom he won numerous titles in his homeland, including a notable victory in the 2006 World Cup in Germany where he received a gold medal.

In the past, he also played for Parma, from which he transferred to Juventus in 2001 for a record transfer fee for a goalkeeper (52 million euros).

"It's a great feeling to join PSG. For the first time in my career, I am leaving my homeland and only an ambitious project could have led to such a decision.

I wanted to thank the president of the Parisian team for showing confidence in me. I have seen that in recent years, this team has made rapid progress and I know what PSG and its fans dream of," said Buffon.
