On Wednesday afternoon, Atletico Madrid defender Javier Manquillo officially became a member of Liverpool, set to play in England on loan basis. There has been talk about his loan for some time and initially there were speculations that he would join Arsenal, but the Gunners acquired Mathieu Debuchy and Calum Chambers instead.
"I am very happy to play for Liverpool. I think it is one of the biggest clubs in Europe. Any football player would want to compete here," - said the 20-year-old defender.
The young Spaniard became the seventh newcomer to Liverpool. He joined Emre Can, Adam Lallana, Rickie Lambert, Dejan Lovren, Lazar Markovic, and Divock Origi. Manquillo will spend two seasons with Liverpool, and the club will have the option to buy him.
