"Barcelona" club officially announced on Monday that Gerardo Martino will be replaced by Luis Enrique, who left Vigo "Celta".

The Catalan team had an unsuccessful season and did not win any titles, so Argentine G. Martino announced his resignation from the coaching position over the weekend.

44-year-old L. Enrique has been named as the main contender to take over the reins of "Barca" for some time. The Spaniard signed a two-year contract with the Catalans.

Former footballer L. Enrique defended the honor of "Barcelona" club for 8 years, and from 2008 to 2011 he led the Spanish vice-champions team B.

For one year, L. Enrique coached the "Roma" team, and this season he worked in Spain, where he led the "Celta" eleven.

The "Barcelona" club also announced today that forward Lionel Messi has signed a new contract.
