Mark van Bommel is leaving Munich and is moving to without a transfer fee.
The 34-year-old veteran himself requested to be released from the German team, as they did not offer to extend his expiring contract.
"I am leaving the club with a heavy heart, but with my head held high," said the team captain.
"I have spent four wonderful and successful years in Munich, so I am extremely grateful to Bayern and the fans. They will always remain in my heart."
Replacing the legendary Oliver Kahn, the Dutchman became the first foreigner to have the honor of being captain of Bayern.
