Official: Madrid's "Real" club strengthens with "Lyon" defender

Madrid's "Real" continues shopping for the summer of 2019 - the acquisition of Ferland Mendy has been officially confirmed.

A few days before his 24th birthday, the left-back defender had been linked to the Spanish club for some time. On Wednesday evening, the deal was officially confirmed - a four-year contract was agreed with the Frenchman.

"Lyon" will receive €48 million for the defender, as well as a possible bonus of €5 million. F. Mendy will be presented to the Madrid fans on June 19.

Zinedine Zidane bought this Frenchman as a replacement for Brazilian Marcelo. This season, he was surpassed by the club's academy product Sergio Reguilon, but the coach doesn't currently see him in the starting lineup, so he will most likely be loaned out to another "La Liga" team.

F. Mendy scored three goals and provided the same number of assists in 39 matches this season.

For the Madrid team, this is already the fifth summer deal - Luka Jovic, Eder Militao, Rodrygo, and Eden Hazard have also joined the team.

Having acquired these players, the main mission of "Real" now is to start the "cleansing" process of the squad. It is said that the club may sell up to 10 players, including those who have been on loan recently.
