The ambitious club acquired Spanish national team and security Santi Cazorla for around 20 million euros.
The 26-year-old footballer, who had also caught the eye of London's Arsenal, put pen to paper on a five-year contract.
"The year spent with this team was great, but life doesn't stand still," said Cazorla. "I see an impressive project in Malaga and I intend to work hard to make it successful."
The defender, who represented the Spanish national team 34 times, scored five goals in 37 matches in the Spanish championship last season.
This summer, Malaga's ranks have already been bolstered by players such as Ruud van Nistelrooy, Jeremy Toulalan, Joris Mathijsen, Joaquin, Julio Baptista and others.
