Noeliui Le Graet quickly apologized for his thoughtless words.
The 81-year-old Frenchman resigned from the position of president of the French Football Federation. He will be temporarily replaced by former director Philippe Diallo.
N. Le Graet spoke very harshly and disrespectfully about French football legend Z. Zidane last Sunday.
"Will Zidane coach Brazil? I don't care. If Zidane called me? I think I wouldn't even pick up. If you want Zidane to find a new team or club, prepare a special program for him," said N. Le Graet.
Former defender was publicly supported by people like Djibril Cisse, Kylian Mbappe, and Franck Ribery.
Many French football figures requested N. Le Graet's resignation, and the Ethics Committee also got involved in this matter.
