"Manchester United" finally announced that they have acquired London's "Chelsea" midfielder Nemanja Matic. The defender, who will celebrate his 29th birthday tomorrow, has signed a three-year contract with the option to extend it for another season. The information about the transfer fee paid by the "Red Devils" has not been disclosed, but according to the football news portal Goal.com, the transfer fee is said to be 40 million pounds sterling. Last season, Matic started in the starting lineup for "Chelsea" in 30 matches and competed for a place in midfield alongside N'Golo Kante and Cesc Fabregas. However, during this off-season, the "Blues" already acquired Tiemoue Bakayoko from "Monaco", leaving no room for the Serbian. In total, wearing the "Chelsea" jersey, the defensive midfielder played 121 games in the Premier League, and he was specifically called up to join this team by the current manager of "Man United", Jose Mourinho. "Nemanja Matic is a Manchester United player and a player of Jose Mourinho. He represents everything we want from a football player: loyalty, consistency, ambition, teamwork," the coach told the official club website. The newcomer to the team also expressed his excitement about the prospect of working with Mourinho again. "I am very happy to join Manchester United. The opportunity to work with Jose Mourinho again was something I could not turn down," said Matic.
