"Newcastle United" officially announced on their website that they have completed negotiations with "Swansea City" for the acquisition of midfielder Jonjo Shelvey.
"The Magpies" paid a substantial amount for the 23-year-old player - 16 million euros. It is reported that the England national team member has agreed to a five and a half year contract with "Newcastle".
"I am very happy to be here," - J. Shelvey said after the deal. "I am glad that everything finally worked out. I traveled overnight, but it was worth coming here and playing for this club."
Shelvey has been playing as a midfielder for "Swansea" since 2013, when he departed from "Liverpool" after three years. This season, wearing the "Swans" jersey, J. Shelvey played 16 matches, scored one goal, and made two assists.
