Ousmane Dembele underwent hamstring surgery on Tuesday, which will keep him out of action for about 6 months.
O. Dembele had already started training with the team, but during one of the sessions he felt discomfort in his hamstring muscle.
Soon after, Barcelona doctors confirmed that the player had suffered a hamstring tendon injury, leading to him needing surgery.
The forward will have to miss not only the rest of the season, but also the European Championship, where he could have been called up to play for the French national team.
Overall this season, O. Dembelle appeared 9 times in total and scored one goal.
The Frenchman, who joined Barcelona for a sum of 105 million euros with 40 million in bonuses, has already missed 59 games due to injuries in his career at the Catalan club, and played 74.
