London's "Chelsea" officially confirmed on Friday morning that 25-year-old midfielder Oscar will leave the team on January 1st and join Shanghai SIPG.
For the past two weeks, it was almost clear that the Brazilian's career would take a turn towards China. Oscar had struggled to make an impact so far this season, so the decision was made to let him go.
So far, the transfer fee has not been announced, but according to some media reports, "Chelsea" could receive an offer of up to 60 million euros for the Brazilian.
Oscar himself will earn impressive amounts in China - he will make around 20 million euros per season.
Oscar arrived in London in 2012 and cost "Chelsea" around 20 million pounds sterling. Throughout his time, the Brazilian played 202 matches and scored 38 goals.
With "Chelsea," Oscar won trophies in the Premier League, English League Cup, and Europa League.
