Official: R. Benitez became the coach of "Newcastle"

„Newcastle United“ team officially introduced their new coach - Rafael Benitez. A three-year contract has been signed with the strategist.

The Spanish coach took over the position from Steve McClaren, who was dismissed on Friday morning after nine months in this job. McClaren's team was in 19th place in the „Premier“ league.

Benitez returns to the „Premier“ league after almost three years. In England, he coached the „Liverpool“ club for six years, with which he won the Champions League in 2005, and worked for half a year as the head coach of „Chelsea“, with which he won the Europa League.

„I am very happy to confirm that I have tied my future with the legendary English club. For the remaining part of the season, we have a huge challenge to remain in the „Premier“ league. This challenge is not only for the coaches and players, but also for the fans. Personally, this means returning to the „Premier“ league and living closer to my family, so I couldn't be happier.“ - Benitez spoke to the club's website.
