Throughout the summer, quietly shopping in London, "Arsenal" has made a breakthrough. The "Gunners" officially confirmed the acquisition of 24-year-old German national team center-back Shkodran Mustafi.
Today, the "Arsenal" club has already confirmed the arrival of striker Lucas Perez, and only formalities remained for S. Mustafi. The German did not wear the "Valencia" club's jersey in La Liga matches over the weekend, and Arsene Wenger mentioned the medical examination of the German on August 27.
The club's official statement does not mention the transfer fee or the length of the contract. According to various media reports, the English vice-champions had to pay between 35 to 40 million euros for the defender.
Wenger said of the German: "He is of the right age. He can also be considered an experienced player. He is a diligent and excellent ball-playing defender. We have acquired a great player who will be with us in the future."
English football is familiar with S. Mustafi. In 2009, he was signed from "Hamburger" to Liverpool's "Everton," but he only played one match in the main team. Later, the defender's career turned to the "Sampdoria" team, where he played for two years.
S. Mustafi strengthened "Valencia" in August 2014. In two seasons in Spain, the defender played 78 matches and scored six goals.
It is worth mentioning that before announcing the acquisition of S. Mustafi, "Arsenal" reported that 21-year-old center-back Calum Chambers is loaned to the "Middlesbrough" team.
