Aurelijus Skarbalius is rapidly climbing the career ladder - on Monday, the specialist was appointed as the head coach of one of the most famous clubs in Denmark.

The 38-year-old specialist had been assisting Henry Jensen since the beginning of January, but he was dismissed due to poor results and gave up his position to the Lithuanian who signed a one-year contract.

Skarbalius was named the main contender to take over the reins of the Lithuanian national team, but due to these changes, he is unlikely to return to his homeland in the near future.

The coach began his career as a long-time national team defender in 2006 at the "Herfolge" team, which merged with the "Koge" club three years later. With this team, the Lithuanian broke into Denmark's top league and earned a reputation as one of the most promising strategists working in the country.

"I will miss my friends who remain in this team. I take my hat off to the players who, despite difficulties, always fight until the end. Saying goodbye is not easy," Skarbalius said.

Having won the Danish championship ten times, "Brondby," which finished last season in third place, is currently in 10th place in the national championship after 13 rounds.
