„Southampton“ acquired „Celtic“ center-back Virgil van Dijk, the club announces in an official statement.
Both sides agreed on the transfer for £11.5 million, and the player signed a five-year contract.

V. van Dijk becomes the second most expensive sale in both „Celtic“ and Scottish football history. The £11.5 million paid by „Southampton“ for the Dutchman is only behind the £12.5 million paid by the same "saints" for another „Celtic“ player Victor Wanyama.
Meanwhile, V. Wanyama should remain in the ranks of „Southampton“, despite his own desire to move to „Tottenham“.
