Official: The Spanish Super Cup will be played in Saudi Arabia

The Spanish Football Federation confirmed at a specially organized conference on Monday that the Spanish Super Cup will be played in Saudi Arabia for the next three years.

Usually held before the season, the two-game battle between the winners of the King's Cup and the Spanish league champions has changed format this year - now four teams will compete.

The semifinals feature the King's Cup winner "Valencia", "La Liga" champion "Barcelona" and the two Madrid clubs left behind - "Atletico" and "Real".

It was previously announced that the Spanish Football Federation will host the semifinals in January, which immediately caused dissatisfaction among the clubs.

The Spanish Football Federation secured 120 million euros after successful negotiations with Saudi Arabia - 40 million euros per year for organizing the tournament in their country.

During the conference, a draw ceremony took place, with representatives from all four teams participating in the tournament - Sergio Ramos ("Real"), Jose Gaya ("Valencia"), Sergio Busquets ("Barcelona"), and Saul ("Atletico").

The draw revealed that in the first semifinal, "Valencia" will face Madrid's "Real". Their match will take place on January 8. Immediately after these games, on January 9, the second semifinal will be played between "Barcelona" and Madrid's "Atletico".

The winner of the Super Cup will be determined on January 12.
