As announced last December, "Barcelona" continues to sign new contracts with the team's leaders.

Already last year, the Catalan club officially announced the successful completion of negotiations for new contracts with Carles Puyol, Xavi Hernandez, and Lionel Messi.

"Barcelona" captain signed a new contract valid until the summer of 2016 last week, and on Monday, one of the team's most important dispatchers, Xavi, completed the final formalities.

The new defender's contract, like C. Puyol's contract, is valid until the summer of 2016.

"This day is special. My signature means that I will continue to play in "Barca". This is a team where I have always wanted to be," said the veteran of the Catalan team.

Xavi defended the honor of "Barcelona" in a total of 659 official matches, scoring 79 goals and providing 154 assists to his teammates. He has won 20 trophies.

According to the president of the Catalan team, Sandro Rosell, next week Lionel Messi will also sign a new contract with the club.
