Norwegian national team and club veteran, striker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer left the field limping in Wednesday's match against Denmark's "Kobenhavn" because he suffered an Achilles tendon injury and will miss the English Championship's 11th round match against "Portsmouth".
The 33-year-old player, who started in the UEFA Champions League match against "Kobenhavn", which "Red Devils" sensationally lost 1-0, began in the starting lineup of the "Man Utd" team, but had to leave the field due to his injured leg during injury time, later the club doctors and coach Sir Alex Ferguson confirmed that the player suffered an injury.
"Unfortunately, Ole injured his Achilles tendon," the coach said after the lost match.
But despite the longtime club player's injury, the team's strategist feels relieved that the striker did not cause more damage to his path, which kept him out of play for more than three seasons.
"I am very happy to hear such news," added the specialist from Scotland. "When he left the field, I didn't know what to expect, knowing the serious knee injury he had. I am glad that it did not happen again."
After this O.G. Solskjaer's injury, the only healthy striker left in the team is English wonderkind Wayne Rooney, but there are hopes that Louis Saha will recover from his knee injury and return to the team, while Alan Smith cannot play at full strength yet, as he had a broken leg last season.
Currently, "Man Utd" in the Champions League remains the leader of the group with 9 points after four matches played.
