The gambling company „Olympic Casino Group Baltija“ was hit with a huge fine, reports the portal lrt.lt.
These sanctions were imposed on the company due to the gambling of Šarūnas Stepukonis, a representative of the investment company „BaltCap“, in one of this company's casinos. The fine against „Olympic Casino Group Baltija“ was issued by the Gambling Supervision Authority (LPT).
We remind you that while gambling, Š. Stepukonis lost approximately 31 million euros that were meant to be allocated for the construction of the national stadium in Vilnius.
As stated by the LPT, „Olympic Casino Group Baltija“ was fined because it did not take all necessary actions to ascertain the source of the funds, which violates money laundering and terrorism financing prevention laws as well as gambling regulations.
A representative of the LPT also commented that „Olympic Casino Group Baltija“ should have noticed that Š. Stepukonis's gambling was irresponsible.
