This Saturday, football will return to Šiauliai after a long break. Although for some time football fans and even city officials doubted whether the stadium renovation works would be completed on time, on Thursday representatives from LFF visited the renovated city stadium and there is no doubt that "Šiauliai" will be allowed to play their home matches there. However, it is possible that the commission will note the works that still need to be done at the stadium in the future: installing lighting, a scoreboard, and increasing the number of covered seats to 1000. With the introduction of new stands, the stadium can accommodate 3000 football fans. Football experts and players themselves note that the Šiauliai stadium and team are currently the best in Lithuania. On Saturday at 18:00, the home stadium will host a match from the second round of the "A Lyga" with the tournament underdog Kėdainiai "Nevėžis". The ticket price for purchasing on "bilietai.lt" for this match is four litas, and on the match day at the stadium it is five litas. During the halftime of this match, individuals who have contributed to Lithuanian and Šiauliai football will be awarded. LFF awards for contributions to the country's football will be presented to Algirdas Griškonis and Romualdas Urnikis. By the way, the return of football to Šiauliai coincides with another celebration: this year Šiauliai football is celebrating its 80th anniversary - the Šiauliai Football Association was founded on May 1, 1925. This year, "Šiauliai" has already played one match at their home stadium. It was the return leg of the LFF Cup quarterfinals against the FBK "Kaunas" team. Despite the very cold and rainy weather, almost 600 fans were not deterred, and "Šiauliai" almost caused an upset by eliminating the more titled Kaunas club.
