This weekend in the English Premier League (EPL) will be hot. On Saturday, football fans will witness two very intriguing matches - in the North London derby, Tottenham Hotspur will face Arsenal, while in another match in the same city, Everton will host Liverpool. These and five other EPL matches will be broadcast on the "Viasat Sport Baltic" channel.
Spurs and Arsenal players are fighting for a place in the next season's UEFA Champions League. These teams are neighbors in the tournament table. Arsenal, with 42 points, are in fifth place, while their opponents (40 points) are in sixth place.
Arsenal's team is currently performing solidly in the Premier League championship - they won three matches in a row. Spurs players also demonstrate good sporting form - they triumphed twice in a row and suffered only one defeat in their last nine matches.
Arsenal will likely still be without Chilean player Alexis Sanchez recovering from injury. However, Arsenal's coach Arsene Wenger is not dramatizing the situation. According to him, Arsenal has other high-level players in the attacking line. Frenchman Olivier Giroud scored 5 goals in the last six matches of the EPL.
The first match between Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur at the Emirates Stadium ended in a 1-1 draw. In the last five matches at White Hart Lane stadium, Wenger's proteges won only once and suffered three defeats.
Liverpool (7th place, 38 points) have not lost a step in the fight for a place in the top four. Brendan Rodgers' team has not lost in seven matches in the English league - five wins and two draws. Now Liverpool has won three times in a row and this week defeated Bolton 2-1 away to reach the FA Cup quarterfinals.
Everton (12th place, 26 points) started the season poorly, but the team has started playing better now - they have not lost three matches in a row in the EPL championship, and in the last round they beat Crystal Palace 1-0 away. In the first match between Liverpool and Everton, a draw was recorded, 1-1. Almost always the matches between these teams are played very fiercely, regardless of their position in the tournament table.
