“West Ham United” face a painful loss ahead of tonight's match.

The club announced that one of the main shareholders, David Gold, has passed away at the age of 87.

The entrepreneur, who owned 25.1% of “West Ham” shares, died after battling an illness.

D. Gold acquired half of the London club's shares in 2010. Since then, the club has risen to a new level, especially in recent years, moving to a new stadium in 2016.

Last year, Czech billionaire Daniel Kretinsky bought 27% of the shares, but David Gold retained 25.1% of the shares.

This evening, the “Hammers” will play against Leeds United as guests.
