One of the most famous Latvian football players of the last century - Artjoms Rudnevs unexpectedly ends his career.
About the decision of the 29-year-old striker, today announced the last team - "Koln" director Jorg Schmadtke, who revealed that the footballer made such a decision because of the problems he faced.
"The player asked to terminate the contract with our club, and the team satisfied his wishes. His football career - is over. We wish A. Rudnevs good luck in dealing with his problems. Soon he will leave Germany and return to his homeland," - J. Schmadtke did not want to talk in detail about the player's decision.
A. Rudnevs became famous in the 2010 UEFA Europa League group stage, when representing the "Lech" club he scored a hat-trick against "Juventus" in Turin, and in other home matches sent another goal to this famous Italian team. Later, the player was bought for 3.5 million euros by "Hamburger". The striker also represented "Hannover" and "Koln" clubs in Germany, playing a total of 108 matches in the Bundesliga and scoring 22 goals.
However, he did not shine in the Latvian national team: in 38 games played, he scored only twice. One of his goals was scored against the Lithuanian national team in the Baltic Cup matches.
