Uruguay national team coach Oscar Tabarez claims he expected Luis Suarez to have a similar start at Barcelona.
In the summer of 2014, the 28-year-old footballer moved from Liverpool to the Catalan team for a reported sum of 94 million euros. However, his impressive performances in the English Premier League do not resemble his current form in Spain, where he has only scored four goals in 14 La Liga matches.
"I knew that Luis would need time to adapt to Barcelona," Tabarez said. "In the Uruguay national team, he has more space."
"We play in a way that he remains in front of defenders and if he loses the ball, the team can easily deal with opponents' attacks.
"I was happy when he decided to join Barcelona. Suarez is a great player and I know that in the near future he will showcase his talent," the coach concluded.
