P. Aubameyang refused a hat-trick to help a teammate

London's "Arsenal" newcomer Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang revealed that he allowed Alexandre Lacazette to take the second penalty kick against "Stoke City" in order to boost his teammate's confidence.

The sniper scored his first goal for the Gunners yesterday from the spot, and later added another after a pass from Mesut Ozil. The second penalty would have completed a hat-trick for him.

However, for the Gabon national team player, it was more important to support his teammate who had a tough time before his arrival and later suffered an injury.

"I knew that Laca was back," Aubameyang said after the match. "I had already scored twice, so I let him take the shot - it helped his self-confidence."

Lacazette converted the penalty and "Arsenal" celebrated a 3-0 victory. It was only the second goal for the Frenchman in his last 14 games.

The 26-year-old striker will have to step up in the UEFA Europa League match against Moscow's "CSKA" on Thursday, as Aubameyang will be unable to play.
