Legendary football referee Pierluigi Collina has officiated in four important finals during his career.

Arguably the most famous referee of all time from Italy has left an impression on many football fans. He revealed what it felt like before the 2002 World Cup final between Germany and Brazil, and how he prepared.

"I remember the moment when I was appointed to referee the 2002 World Cup final between Brazil and Germany.

I had to review video tapes of both teams' matches, locked myself in a room for one and a half days, took notes, watched every minute of every game.

The referee's goal is to be one step ahead, to have a sense of what will happen before it happens.

At that time, such preparation was unconventional, strange, but I am proud that nowadays such preparation for referees is normal," - ESPN revealed P. Collina.
