"This season, the stuttering Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola insists that in order to turn the team into a serious contender for the Premier League title, he needs more time.
Before today's match with Swansea, the City side is in fifth place in the English championship and lags 13 points behind the leader Chelsea.
At the moment, a significant part of the team consists of a whole group of thirty-year-old or older footballers - Yaya Toure, Pablo Zabaleta, Fernandinho, Aleksandar Kolarov, and David Silva - so making lineup changes quickly will certainly not be possible.
"It cannot be changed overnight. It's impossible," Guardiola said at a press conference. "Each player costs 45-50 million pounds, so it is impossible to do."
"Another thing is that replacing seven, eight, or nine players with another seven, eight, or nine players is not good."
"First of all, it's impossible, and also it's not good."
Guardiola admitted that veterans are very important to the team and its spirit, but sooner or later everything will have to change.
